## Cooking Conversions and Cooking Measurements

With the help of these easy-to-follow cooking conversions, you'll be able to use the recipes here even though one country's cooking measurements and is different from another.

While these conversions are approximate only, the difference between an exact and the appropriate conversion of various liquid and dry measures is minimal and will not affect your cooking results.

You will notice that most of my recipes are based on cup measurement which I find is easy and quick to use for easy cooking and baking. The difference between one country's measuring cup and another is, at most, within a 2 or 3 teaspoon variance only.

Fruit Conversions
3 medium size banana = 1 cup mashed bananas
2 medium bananas = 1 cup diced bananas
1 medium apple = 1 cup chopped apple
1 medium lemon = 3 tablespoons lemon juice
3-4 medium oranges = 1 cup orange juice

Butter/Margarine Conversions
1 stick of butter = 1/4 pound
1 stick of butter = 8 tablespoons
1 stick of butter = 4 ounces
1 stick of butter = 113 grams
1 stick of butter = 1/2 cup
1/2 lb = 1 cup = 1 bar
1 lb = 2 cups

Dairy Conversions
1 cup whipping cream = 250 grams whipping cream
1 cup of heavy cream = 1/3 cup butter + 3/4 cup milk
1 cup sour milk = 1 cup sweet milk + 1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
1 cup sour milk = 1 cup buttermilk
1 cup whole milk = 1/2 cup evaporated milk + 1/2 cup water

Flour Conversions
1 cup self-raising flour = 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1/2 teaspoon salt + 1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour = 1 cup + 2 tablespoons sifted cake flour
1 cup sifted cake flour = 1 cup - 2 tablespoons sifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon flour = 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch (for thickening)
1 tablespoon flour = 2 teaspoons tapioca flour (for thickening)
1 teaspoon baking powder = 1/4 teaspoon baking soda + 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Egg Conversions
5 whole eggs = 1 cup
12 egg yolks = 1 cup
8 egg whites = 1 cup

Oven Temperature Conversions
120ºC = 250ºF
140ºC = 275ºF
150ºC = 300ºF
160ºC = 325ºF
180ºC = 350ºF
190ºC = 375ºF
200ºC = 400ºF
220ºC = 425ºF
230ºC = 450ºF

Metric Cup & Spoon Sizes Conversions
1/4 cup = 60ml
1/3 cup = 75ml
1/2 cup = 125ml
1 cup = 250ml
1/4 teaspoon = 1.25ml
1/2 teaspoon = 2.5ml
1 teaspoon = 5ml
2 teaspoons = 10ml
1 tablespoon(equal to 4 teaspoons) = 20ml

Liquids Conversions
60ml = 1/4 cup = 2 fl oz
80ml = 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons = 3 fl oz
120ml = 1/2 cup = 4 fl oz
180ml = 3/4 cup = 6 fl oz
240ml = 1 cup = 8 fl oz
310ml = 1 1/4 cups = 10 1/2 fl oz
480ml = 2 cups = 16 fl oz
960ml = 4 cups = 32 fl oz
1000ml = 4 cups = 33 fl oz

Dry Ingredients by Weight Conversions
To convert ounces to grams, multiply the number of ounces by 30
10g = 1/4oz
15g = 1/2oz
30g = 1oz (1/16 lb)
60g = 2oz
90g = 3oz
120g = 4oz (1/4 lb)
360g = 12oz (3/4 lb)
480g = 16oz (1 lb)

Great recipe! I had two ripe bananas at home and wanted to use them right away, so I searched for ideas on the Internet. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. Since I only had two bananas, I used only half of every ingredient (I added a dash of cinnamon) and baked it for half the time, too! It was so delicious!

Lovely site I must say! when i found this recipe I thought "this is too good to be true", when I saw the comments I was like "yeah right, these are so not real". But I tried this recipe and trust me, I have NO regrets! awesome!!!! If you don't have baking soda, like I did, use two teaspoons of baking powder

Excellent! This would have to be the most delicious and moist banana cake ever! I used wholemeal flour instead and it was still unbelievably moist. Also, I baked it for 50 mins instead, then left to cool and that helped make it more moist yet not undercooked. This has now become a firm family favourite, thankyou!.

This might be my new favorite recipe! Plain, they are like mini, takealong banana bread bites! Delicious! Then I got creative, and dipped them in semisweet chocolate, then pressed a walnut on top and now they are an elegant cookie!
