Hearty Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Rich chocolate chips and sweet bananas make a happy combination for kids. This drop style banana chocolate chip cookies are very easy to make and always a kids favorite. These cookies are hearty, soft and chewy, full of flavor and not-too-sweet.

In this recipe, I've added rolled oats to the banana chocolate chip cookies to add more layers/texture to the cookies. You can also replace rolled oats with wheat germ. It's a great way to get that extra fiber into the cookies.

This recipe only needs you to mix, plop and bake. Put the cookies in a jar and they're soon gone. These cookies are best eaten on the same day, but can be stored between layers of parchment in airtight containers at room temperature up to 1 week.

Try it, and let me know how it turned out.

Servings: 3 dozen cookies
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Bake time: 12 minutes

Comments:
If you love nuts, add in 1 cup of toasted nuts (any nuts). It gives that extra crunch to the cookies.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips, or a combination

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF/180ºC.
2. Using electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.
3. Add in eggs and vanilla and beat until well combined.
4. Add in bananas and mix.
5. Add in flour, baking soda, salt and mix until just combined.
6. Stir in oats and chocolate chips.
7. Drop a tablespoon of dough per cookie 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet.
8. Bake for about 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
9. Allow to cool.

    Easy Banana Bread
Great recipe! I had two ripe bananas at home and wanted to use them right away, so I searched for ideas on the Internet. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. Since I only had two bananas, I used only half of every ingredient (I added a dash of cinnamon) and baked it for half the time, too! It was so delicious!

Excellent! This would have to be the most delicious and moist banana cake ever! I used wholemeal flour instead and it was still unbelievably moist. Also, I baked it for 50 mins instead, then left to cool and that helped make it more moist yet not undercooked. This has now become a firm family favourite, thankyou!.

This might be my new favorite recipe! Plain, they are like mini, takealong banana bread bites! Delicious! Then I got creative, and dipped them in semisweet chocolate, then pressed a walnut on top and now they are an elegant cookie! I wowed my friends at our cookie exchange this year, but little did they know how simple it was! Thank you for the best kept secret I'll ever have in my kitchen!
