Gorgeous Eggless Chocolate Mousse
This gorgeous eggless chocolate mousse recipe is for those of you who love rich chocolate whipped into luxurious cream, but can't stomach raw eggs. Perfected by my ex-dormmate Shirley (who is famed for her all her instant party puddings), her very easy and quick eggless chocolate mousse is a keeper.
Made with chocolates, whipping cream, milk, sugar and gelatin, this silky mousse recipe does not involve cooking or any fancy equipment. All you need to make sure is to use good quality chocolates with minimum 70% cocoa solids.
I like using bittersweet chocolates for this recipe. If you are using semisweet chocolates, or a combination of bittersweet and semisweet chocolates, adjust the sweetness of the mixture to your taste by increasing or reducing the sugar.
So, if you’re looking to whip up an instant dessert for a party, this dessert would be perfect and impressive. You can scoop the mousse into martini glasses, wine glasses or other fancy serving glasses and eat straight away or refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
For a twist to the eggless chocolate mousse, add a tablespoon of almond powder, orange rind or espresso to the mixture. Finish the mousse with shaved chocolate and fresh banana slices.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Be careful not to over-whip the whipping cream, as over-whipping causes the fat molecules to clump together and turn into butter.
1 cup cold whipping cream
3/4 tablespoon gelatin powder
5oz (145g) bittersweet chocolate, chopped into pieces
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon caster sugar
2 bananas, sliced
1. In a saucepan, combine gelatin with half amount of whipping cream. Cook over very low heat until gelatin powder is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
2. Add in chocolate, sugar and milk. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Set aside.
3. Whip remaining cream until it soft peaks begin to form. Gently fold cream into chocolate mixture until well combined.
4. Transfer to a glass and chill for at least 30 minutes in refrigerator. Just before serving, garnish with fresh bananas slices and chocolate shavings.

Great recipe! I had two ripe bananas at home and wanted to use them right away, so I searched for ideas on the Internet. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. Since I only had two bananas, I used only half of every ingredient (I added a dash of cinnamon) and baked it

Lovely site I must say! when i found this recipe I thought "this is too good to be true", when I saw the comments I was like "yeah right, these are so not real". Excellent! This would have to be the most delicious and moist banana cake ever! I used wholemeal flour instead and it was still unbelievably moist. Also, I baked it for 50 mins instead, then left to cool and that helped make it more moist yet not undercooked. This has now become a firm family favourite, thankyou!.
