Easy Glazed Bananas
I often see glazed bananas in the streets of Manila, beautifully threaded on skewers.
Making sugar coated bananas is extremely easy, with only 5 ingredients used including bananas, palm sugar (or brown sugar), water, butter and vanilla essence.
This sweet dessert can be eaten plain, or served with anything you fancy, from roasted pistachios with ice-cream to whipped cream and almond flakes, or yogurt.
I like using palm sugar for this recipe as it gives a distinctive maple-syrup flavor to the bananas, and a beautiful brown sheen.
If eating plain and serving for a kids party, you may want to try thread the bananas (cut into half instead of lengthwise) into bamboo skewers for ease of eating..yum.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
For a slightly alcoholic taste, you can drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of rum or liqueur on top of warm caramelized bananas.
4 firm, just ripe bananas, peeled and cut half lengthwise
1/2 cup palm sugar or dark brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 tablespoons butter, chopped
1. Melt sugar, vanilla and water over low-medium heat in a pan until it forms a caramel.
2. Add bananas, cut side down, and cook about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until a glaze forms on the bananas. Watch carefully, don't allow sugar to char.
3. Add butter, and cook for another 2 minutes.
4. Serve bananas warm with ice-cream or yogurt.

Easy Banana Bread
Great recipe! I had two ripe bananas at home and wanted to use them right away, so I searched for ideas on the Internet. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. Since I only had two bananas, I used only half of every ingredient (I added a dash of cinnamon) and baked it
for half the time, too! It was so delicious!

Lovely site I must say! when i found this recipe I thought "this is too good to be true", when I saw the comments I was like "yeah right, these are so not real". But I tried this recipe and trust me, I have NO regrets! awesome!!!! If you don't have baking soda, like I did, use two teaspoons of baking powder

Excellent! This would have to be the most delicious and moist banana cake ever! I used wholemeal flour instead and it was still unbelievably moist. Also, I baked it for 50 mins instead, then left to cool and that helped make it more moist yet not undercooked. This has now become a firm family favourite, thankyou!.
